Our favourite gardening quotes

A couple of weeks ago we talked about the role of gardening as inspiration for art, and in particular, the written form. We talked about how gardening features in books we have recently read, we shared many Harry Potter references and in the end, presented some of our favourite quotes about gardening.

“Good pruning is invisible. It looks as if everything grew to the right size and stopped.”

“A garden is not made in a year; indeed it is never made in the sense of finality. It grows, and with the labour of love should go on growing. ” Frederick Eden

“A Gardener’s life
Is full of sweets and sours;
He gets the sunshine
When he needs the showers. ”
Reginald Arkell

“What is a weed? A plant whose virtues have not yet been discovered.” Ralph Waldo Emerson”

“One of the most delightful things about a garden is the anticipation it provides.” W. E. Johns

With months of cold rain and winds, the anticipation to go outside and start this dream garden of ours is indeed growing! Spring is soon approaching – the crocuses have given grassy areas a special touch, and daffodils are already in bloom!
